Google says Chromecast won’t sell to retailers after investigation

Google says it will not sell Chromecast to retailers, and it’s not expected to make the devices available for sale in its own stores.

A representative from the company told CNN that it’s continuing to investigate the matter, and has “no further comment.”

“As we said in our blog post, Chromecast will be available for consumers to purchase for $35.00 on Google Play in the US and Canada,” the company wrote in a statement.

“Google is in the process of reviewing this and will share additional information once it has done so.”

A statement from the German retailer Amazon said it will offer Chromecast for $29.99 on Amazon Prime starting next month.

The company did not respond to a request for comment from CNN.

Amazon, which has more than 10 million devices, has not released pricing details, and Chromecast isn’t listed on the company’s Amazon Prime store.
